Until Grasses Bow

Description

Malumari is about to embark on her ultimate journey as a member of the Jukaro tribe in the Amazon. Bantoroni custom has it that elders must attempt the posthumous joining of the God of Bee's guard by making their way through a perilous one-way journey to Grasses Bow, a mystical highland suffused with magic and aura. But on her way there, Malumari will be impeded by vicious wildlife of all sizes, dutiful Jukaro hunters sent to assure her worthiness, and even some malicious members of the cannibalistic Golwo tribe. To even the desolate odds, players can harness magical powers by tying binds around Malumari's fingers. With this at hand, will she able to make it Until Grasses Bow, ascend to an afterlife of servitude under the God of Bee, and ensure the Jukaro people's continued harvest of the honey they so treasure?
Until Grasses Bow  is a vertical slice made as a storytelling exercise at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. I was influenced by my studies in anthropology, particularly of the Yanomamo people of South America. The game was in a twisted way a tribute to tribal societies around the world. The vertical slice of the game depicts the final showdown at the end of the game, where players can experience multiple versions of the ending. In addition to the game, I have provided to those curious my in-depth study of Malumari's world and also a video containing snippets of all my classmates' vertical slices (including mine) via the links down below.
